Our approach to birth at OceanMed

HOSPITAL BIRTH WITH THE OCEANMED TEAM

Babies are delivered in a hospital, with your OceanMed OB/GYN by your side and working closely with hospital specialists to ensure you receive continuous care and access to additional support whenever needed.

PAIN MANAGEMENT, YOUR WAY

From epidural and nitrous oxide to breathwork and acupressure, we’ll support your preferences – and you can change your mind at any time.

EARLY BONDING, PRIORITISED

Skin-to-skin contact and delayed cord clamping are part of our standard approach when clinically appropriate. We support your feeding choices and aim to keep routine newborn care close, so you and your baby can stay together.

FREEDOM TO MOVE

We encourage movement and position changes throughout labour. We’ll help you find what feels right – and offer guidance when you want it.

UNRUSHED, RESPECTFUL CARE

We take a calm, supportive approach to labour and avoid unnecessary intervention, while closely monitoring you and your baby’s wellbeing.

ANTENATAL CLASSES & POSTNATAL SUPPORT

We offer group or private antenatal classes for practical guidance on birth preparation, labour and delivery, and postpartum recovery. In-home and virtual postnatal visits are available to help you navigate the first few weeks with your newborn.
