Hyperemesis Support Therapy Service
Hyperemesis Support Therapy Service
Severe pregnancy nausea and vomiting can make even ordinary parts of the day feel difficult. You don’t have to simply push through it. When additional support is needed, we’re here to help you feel better and stay supported throughout your pregnancy.
OceanMed’s Hyperemesis Support Therapy Service provides outpatient IV hydration and symptom relief for patients experiencing Hyperemesis Gravidarum, in a calm, comfortable clinic setting.
Working closely with your OB/GYN, our nursing team provides clinically guided treatment to ease your symptoms, restore hydration, and monitor your wellbeing, while keeping your care connected to the provider managing your pregnancy.
Treatment takes place in our comfortable outpatient clinic, providing a calm, private setting for patients whose symptoms can be appropriately managed without hospital-level care.
Treatment is provided for patients referred by their OB/GYN, so your care stays connected to the provider who knows you and your pregnancy best.
Your treatment may include IV hydration to restore fluids, together with nausea relief as prescribed or authorised by your OB/GYN and clinically appropriate, delivered and monitored by our nursing team.
Your IV infusion takes approximately one hour, with a total visit of around two hours. Your visit is unrushed, closely monitored, and centred on your comfort.
While our service helps you manage ongoing symptoms, Hyperemesis Gravidarum can sometimes become severe enough to require urgent assessment or hospital-level care.
Please seek urgent medical attention if your symptoms are rapidly worsening, you are unable to keep down any fluids or medications, you are passing very little or no urine, or you feel severely weak, dizzy, confused or faint.
You should also seek immediate medical attention for symptoms including severe abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, chest pain, and shortness of breath.
If you are unsure whether your symptoms can be safely managed through our outpatient service, please contact your OB/GYN or OceanMed before attending your appointment.
Your ongoing pregnancy care and follow-up will continue with your OB/GYN.
Additional treatment sessions may be arranged, where clinically appropriate, and authorised by your provider, so your treatment remains connected to your wider pregnancy care.
If severe nausea and vomiting are affecting your pregnancy, speak with your OB/GYN about whether outpatient treatment at OceanMed may be appropriate for you. With a referral from your provider, our team is here to support you with thoughtful, clinically guided care.
